The University of Hartford men’s soccer team fought hard, but fell to the No. 12 Boston College Eagles in its season opener by a 3-2 final on Wednesday afternoon at the Newton Campus Soccer Field. The Hawks fall to 0-1 overall after dropping their first opening game since the 2007 season while the Eagles improve to 1-0 in the young 2010 season
Carlos Villa, a former member of the University of Hartford men’s soccer team and 2010 Hartford graduate, and his current team Club Social y Deportivo Municipal were in the national spotlight on FOX Soccer Channel on Wednesday, August 18. Villa and CSD Municipal took on the Columbus Crew of the Major League Soccer in Day One of the 2010 Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football’s (CONCACAF) Champions League.
University of Hartford men’s soccer standout Jorge Rodriguez has been invited by the Puerto Rico Soccer Federation to the Puerto Rico Men’s National Team’s official try-outs, an 11-day event that kicks off on August 12 and is held at the Olympic training facilities in Salinas, Puerto Rico.
Daniel Antunez, a University of Hartford alum and former member of the men’s soccer team, continues to excel at the professional level. The midfielder currently represents Football Club International Turku, commonly known as FC Inter or Inter Turku, of the Finnish Premier Division.
Will Royall, a University of Hartford alum and former member of the men’s soccer team, has recently taken on the role of Sunderland AFC’s head fitness coach.
