Brian Mik was named Senior Associate Athletics Director for the Hawks in February 2020. In August of 2021, Mik took on a new role taking over Facilities, Events and Operations. His responsibilities include overseeing the areas of facility management while managing the day-to-day operations of all Athletic facilities, the department's equipment room and events. Before taking on this new role, Mik oversaw a Hartford Athletics' external relations team including communications, marketing, development, and corporate partnerships.
He previously served four years as the Hawks' Assistant Athletics Director for Donor Relations, Events and Special Projects, where he helped plan and execute major fundraising events such as the annual Roger Poe Golf Classic and Hawktober Weekend. Mik is in his 21st overall year working in the Hartford athletic department.
Prior to joining Hartford Athletics' administrative team, he spent 15 years as an assistant coach for the women's basketball program. During that stint, the Hawks' compiled five America East Championships, six NCAA tournament appearances, and four WNIT berths. Mik’s responsibilities with the Hawks included recruiting, scouting, and video editing, as well as game-day and practice duties and overseeing all travel preparations.
Before Hartford, Mik spent six successful years as both a head coach of the Connecticut Starters Amateur Athletics Union program and an assistant coach at Lyman Hall High School in Wallingford, CT.
His Connecticut Starters team finished in the top-five twice at the AAU National Invitational Championships. While at Lyman Hall, the Trojans won two regular season championships and one Southern Connecticut Conference tournament title.
Mik earned a bachelor’s degree in corporate communications from Southern Connecticut State University in 1994.
Brian and his wife, Sarah, a former basketball player at Merrimack College, reside in Wallingford. They have three children, 21-year-old daughter Brianna, who attends Seton Hall University, 18-year-old son Drew, who attends the University of Hartford and 16-year-old Grace.
