WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Hartford men's soccer season came to an end Monday night with a 2-0 setback against NJIT. Graduate Rene White netted both of the Highlanders goals, in the 39th and 82nd minutes, to end the Hawks' 2021 campaign.
Â
Hartford's (4-10-3, 2-6-0 America East) postseason hopes were officially dashed earlier in the night, when Stony Brook escaped with a 1-0 victory against UAlbany. The Hawks held the head-to-head tiebreaker against Stony Brook but needed a Seawolves loss, combined with a victory against NJIT, to advance. Instead, Stony Brook clinched a postseason berth with its victory, eliminating Hartford.

HOW IT HAPPENED
White, the Highlanders' leading scorer on the season, netted his 10th and 11th goals in NJIT's victory. Senior forward Regsan Watkins assisted on both goals.
