Senior Salute: Terrel Davis

Senior Salute: Terrel Davis

Terrel Davis |  Men's Track and Field  |  Beacon, N.Y.

Terrel Davis was a four-year member of the track and field team, becoming one of the greatest jumpers in program history. This past season, Davis became the first student-athlete in school history to qualify for the NCAA Championships, as he reached the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in the long jump after recording a school-record breaking leap of 7.78m. Two years ago, he became the first-ever male to reach the postseason, as he qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field East Regional in the long jump.

Davis has been stellar in the jumping events throughout his entire career, as he currently owns the school records for the long jump and triple jump in both indoor and outdoor track and field. He also set a new America East Championship Meet record in the long jump this past season, winning the event with a mark of 7.67m

Davis was also named the USTFCCCA Northeast Region Indoor Field Athlete of the Year this past season, becoming the first student-athlete in program history to earn the accolade. He will graduate with a degree in Architectural Engineering Tech.

If you could relive one moment from your career as a Hartford Hawk, what would it be?
If I could relive one moment, it would be the 2018 Indoor Conference Championships.

What was your favorite Hartford Athletics event that you attended as a fan, and why?
My favorite athletics event was the 2020 Men's Basketball conference tourney game against UMass Lowell.

What passions do you hope to pursue after graduation?
I hope to compete internationally for Antigua and Barbuda, as well as becoming a licensed architect.

What lessons will you take from your time at the University of Hartford?
One lesson I learned was to be adaptable. Being a student athlete at Hartford had some difficulties, but the staff as well as other athletes helped each other to adapt to new challenges.

The COVID-19 pandemic caused the abrupt end to winter and spring sports for the 2019-20 academic year, as well as the cancelation of several end-of-the-year activities for all student-athletes. The University of Hartford Department of Athletics would like the opportunity to thank our seniors for their dedication through their chosen sport. As a result, HartfordHawks.com will be posting Senior Salutes for each senior throughout the coming weeks.
