Women's Lacrosse Announces 2019 Slate

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. –  Hartford women's lacrosse head coach Meg Decker has announced the schedule for the upcoming 2019 season. The 17-game regular-season slate is highlighted by nine home games on Al-Marzook Field at Alumni Stadium, including four doubleheaders with the Hawks' men's lacrosse team.

"We start off our season fast and strong against the West Point Cadets, a quality opponent to begin our second year as a program," exclaimed Decked. "Our out of conference play will prepare us well to take on our conference opponents with confidence. We have many opportunities this year to grow our program's foundational strength. I am extremely proud of our young team. They have chosen the path less traveled. After this season, there will be no doubt that they have been battle tested. We are looking forward to the spring."

In the program's second year, the Hawks kick off their season in West Point, N.Y., on Saturday, Feb. 16, for a date with Patriot League member Army West Point at 1 p.m. It will be the first meeting between the Hawks and Black Knights in program history.

Four days after the season opener, Hartford begins the home portion of its schedule on Wednesday, Feb. 20, against in-state rival CCSU at 3 p.m. Three days later, the Hawks host Boston University for an 11 a.m. game.

The Hawks travel to New Haven, Conn., to play Yale on Feb. 27, before staying at home for three consecutive games, beginning with the season's first double-header on Saturday, March 2. The men's lacrosse team will play first at 11 a.m. vs. Harvard, followed by the women at 2 p.m., who will be hosting LIU Brooklyn. Hartford will see two more visits from local foe Quinnipiac (March 6) and Holy Cross (March 9) before hitting the road for its next three games.

In six days, the Hawks will land at Siena (March 13), Wofford (March 16) and Delaware State (March 18). Last season, Hartford played Delaware State in the program's inaugural game, defeating the Hornets 20-4. A total of seven Hartford players found the back of the net, led by current senior Billy McLaughlin, who scored nine points on seven goals and two assists.

Hartford's first America East home contest pits the Hawks against Vermont on Saturday, March 23, at 11 a.m. The Hawks then visit New Hampshire (March 30) and defending America East Champion Stony Brook (April 3) before returning home to host UMBC on Saturday, April 6. The 11 a.m. matchup is the frontend of a doubleheader that will also include Hartford men's lacrosse hosting UMass Lowell at 2 p.m.

The Hawks take their final road trip of the regular-season on Saturday, April 13, to play Binghamton before returning home to host the 2017 league finalist UAlbany on Saturday, April 20, at 12 p.m. The regular season concludes on Saturday, April 27, as the Hawks host UMass Lowell on Senior Day.

The America East Championship will be played May 2-4 at the higher seed.
