Cross Country/Track & Field sites
Located just minutes from the University of Hartford campus, Elizabeth Park is one of the primary training locations for the Hartford Hawks Cross Country/Track & Field program. Within the park there are multiple loops marked out in distances ranging from 400 meters up to 5K, as well as inclines ranging from 100 to 300 meters, making it perfectly suited for long- and middle-distance training. The park also features crushed stone and wooded paths, providing a nice alternative to the rigors of training on the roads while aiding our student-athletes with injury prevention.

West Hartford Reservoir No. 1
Â

West Hartford's Reservoirs combine to form more than 6,000 acres of pristine forestland, with more than 30 miles of paved and gravel roads for joggers and bikers. Reservoir No. 1, located off Farmington Avenue, serves as one of many long-distance destinations for the Hawks Cross Country and Distance teams.
This reservoir offers access to some of the most beautiful woodlands and trails in the region and its vast dirt trails allow for longer tempo-based work that can be accomplished without the interruptions of road or pedestrians.Â

Vernon Depot Historic Park
Â

Â
Vernon Depot Historic Park is part of Connecticut's Rails-to-Trails system. This location offers another long-distance destination with trails ranging in length from 2 to 12 miles. It has proven to be an excellent location for tempo-based and Fartlek work, thanks in large part to its extensive soft trail surfaces.
