Sczecienski hits pair of homers

MADEIRA BEACH, Fla.Mara Sczecienski went hit a pair of home runs Saturday, but the Hartford softball team dropped a pair of games at The Spring Games.

GAME ONE: BUCKNELL 11, HARTFORD 3 (5 innings)
Carly Mayhood was responsible for all of the Hawks' offense with a bases-loaded double in the fourth inning, scoring Anita Farkash, Kelsey Galevich, and Shailynn Williams.

Farkash led the inning off with a walk, and then Galevich and Williams drew one-out free passes ahead of the Mayhood double.

The Bison did the majority of their damage with eight runs in the second. They scored individual runs in the first, fourth, and fifth innings.

Caylee English, 1-3, allowed eight earned runs on nine hits in one-plus innings of work. Lauren Card hurled 3.1 innings, allowing three runs – two earned – on seven hits.

GAME TWO: UT CHATTANOOGA 13, HARTFORD 2 (6 innings)
Sczecienski was the Hartford offense in the second game, blasting a pair of solo homeruns as the Hawks fell to UT-Chattanooga, an NCAA Regional team a season ago, 13-2.

After the Mocs scored a pair of runs in the first inning, Sczecienski cut the deficit in half with her first longball of the season. She tied the score in the third with another shot over the left field fence.

Chattanooga answered with six runs in the fourth and added five more in the sixth.

Mayhood, 0-2, allowed six runs – four earned – on 10 hits with a walk and strikeout.
