THE LEAD:
Chris DelDebbio's walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th lifted the Hartford baseball team to a 7-6 victory over Stony Brook in the Hawks' first game of the America East Tournament on Thursday. DelDebbio lined a pitch into left field and pinch-runner Nick Campana narrowly beat the relay throw to the plate to send the Hawks into a celebration. Hartford will next take on Binghamton on Friday at noon.

David MacKinnon went 4-for-5 with four RBI, including a home run, in the victory. DelDebbio went 3-for-4 in the contest, while Aaron Wilson scored a pair of runs for the Hawks. Jack Parenty and Bobby Honeyman had two hits each in a losing effort for Stony Brook.

Kyle Gauthier was stellar in his first start in four weeks, allowing just five hits and two runs in eight innings. The senior struck out six in a no-decision. Ferguson pitched the final two innings, allowing two hits and a run, but bouncing back to get the win in the 10th.

HOW THEY SCORED:
• Early on, both pitchers were rolling, with Gauthier working out of a jam in the second and Bret Clarke working out of a bases-loaded jam in the third to keep it scoreless into the fourth.
• The Hawks came up big in the bottom of that frame, with Ben Bengtson leading off the inning with a triple and coming in to score when Chris Sullivan doubled to left to make it 1-0.
• After a sacrifice moved Sullivan to third, Ashton Bardzell lined one through the right side for a 2-0 Hawks advantage.
• A hit batsman and flyout moved Bardzell to third, and MacKinnon brought him home with a laser between third and short, putting the lead at 3-0 going to the fifth.
• At the same time, Gauthier was settling in for the Hawks, facing just one over the minimum from the third through the seventh, and holding the Seawolves without a hit and with just two walks.
• The Hawks added to their lead in the bottom of the seventh, with Wilson walking and MacKinnon blasting a two-run shot to left, his fourth of the year, to make it 5-0.
• Stony Brook finally cracked the scoreboard in the top of the eighth, plating two runs off Gauthier on four hits to make it a 5-2 ballgame.
• The Seawolves then garnered the lead in the top of the ninth, with a single and three doubles plating four runs for a 6-5 lead.
• The Hawks rallied to tie the score in the bottom of the frame, with Wilson leading off with a double and coming home on MacKinnon's RBI single to left center to make it 6-6.
• That set up DelDebbio's heroics in the bottom of the 10th, as Joe Roberti reached on an error, giving way to Campana, and MacKinnon followed with a single.
