Basketball Teams to Hold Second Annual Golf Tournament

Basketball Golf Tournament Sponsors

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The University of Hartford men's and women's basketball teams will hold their second annual fundraising golf tournament on Monday, May 20 at the Hartford Golf Club.

The event, which includes 18-holes of a scramble format tournament with a cart, lunch and dinner, helps raise more than $40,000 for the University's men's and women's basketball teams. Participants will also have an opportunity to bid on silent auction items, compete in a raffle and enter on-course contests. Many auction and raffle items offer one-of-a-kind experiences.

Supporting the Men's and Women's Basketball Golf Tournament assists in enabling the basketball programs to provide lifelong memories for student-athletes. Among other things, the resources generated by such fundraising activities have allowed the University to sponsor foreign trips. Those kind of experiences give the programs the opportunity to mold student-athletes not just as competitors but as people and leaders.

The Hartford Golf Club has 27 holes of superbly conditioned parkland golf. The course is a combined Donald Ross and Devereaux Emmett design and was founded in 1896. The facility has played host to numerous prominent national and state events, most recently the 60th U.S. Girls' Junior Championship. The golf course has been designed to ensure a degree of difficulty but also features an enjoyable layout for the average golfer. The par 71 design offers its guests a true country-club experience. The championship course is complemented by a luxurious, 23,000-squarefoot clubhouse.
