FINAL INDIVIDUAL STANDINGS
PHOENIX, Md. – The University of Hartford women's golf team jumped six spots from 11th place up to fifth over the final round of play at the season-opening Tignanelli Towson Invitational at Towson Golf and Country Club. The Hawks combined to card a 315 over the final 18 holes, led by freshman
Brooke Nethercott, who posted a final-round 72.
Nethercott, who sat in a tie for 50th place after shooting 84 in Sunday's opening round, jumped up the ranks to finish tied for 12th among the 90-player field. The freshman posted an even-par 72 in Monday's final round to close out her first collegiate tournament.
“We went from 11th to fifth overnight,” said assistant coach Joyce Curran. “We had great input from all our players and our freshmen opened well in their first tournament.”
Annamarie Mallat, the other freshman on the Hawk roster, posted matching rounds of 83 to finish tied for 45th overall with a two-round card of 166.
Senior
Sarah Sideranko tied for 24
th in the field after a 36-hole score of 159 while fellow senior
Kirsten LaPointe tied for 31st after shooting a 79 on Monday, four strokes better than her Sunday round.
Junior
Aubrey Ungvarsky shot an 88 Monday, two strokes ahead of her Sunday pace.
The Hawks hit the links at the Dartmouth Invitational at the Hanover Country Club in Hanover, N.H., September 15-16.
