COMPLETE DIVISION I-AAA ADA RELEASE

WEST HARTFORD, CONN. –
Women's basketball junior Alex Hall added to her academic honors this season when she received Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association Scholar-Athlete distinction on Tuesday. Hall is the second Hawk to earn the distinction, following in the footsteps of 2011 graduate Mary Silvia who earned the same award last season.

Hall is one of three America East student-athletes to earn the academic accolade, joining UMBC's Michele Kuroski and Vermont's Luke Apfeld. Hall, a management and economics and finance major, sports a 3.95 combined grade point average which is the second highest on the 12-member Women's Scholar-Athlete Team, just shy of Maggie Blair (Manhattan) and Kurowski who each garnered perfect 4.0 GPA's. The Division I-AAA honor is the second academic honor of the year for Hall who earned America East All-Academic honors at the postseason banquet held on March 1.

Hall was one of two captains for the 2011-12 season and finished the year fourth overall with an average of 6.6 points-per-game. She was one of three players to play in all 32 games, helping lead the Hawks to the postseason for the eighth straight season as they earned an at-large bid into the WNIT.

Hall led the Hawks in three point shooting percentage with a .329 average on 26-of-79, while shooting 35.7 percent overall on 75-of-210. She also finished with 50 assists, fourth most, and 19 steals while averaging 2.4 rebounds-per-game.

Athletes from all Division I-AAA ADA member institutions are eligible for nomination for the Division I-AAA ADA Scholar-Athlete Team. Each nominee must have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) in undergraduate study and have been a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletics credentials. He/she must have reached junior athletics and academic standing and have completed at least three academic semesters/five quarters at their current institution.

Now in its 11th year, the Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association's mission is to enhance initiatives common to its Division I-AAA membership (the 99 Division I institutions that do not sponsor football), in particular, aspects related to their flagship basketball programs. The Division I-AAA ADA is administered by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), which is in its 47th year.
