WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Freshman Katie Roth garnered the Hawks first weekly distinction of the 2012-13 season on Monday when she was named America East Rookie of the Week as announced by the league office.

Roth averaged 9.5 points- and 5.5 rebounds-per-game over the two games last week, including a career high 17 points in the road win at UMass. She opened that contest making her first six shot attempts of the night, before finishing 6-of-7 overall and 5-of-8 at the free throw line. Her 17 points against the Minutewomen ties the season high for all players.

On Sunday, Roth finished with just two points but grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Hawks. Overall for the week, she shot 53.8 percent overall on 7-of-13.

For the season, Roth is currently fifth on the team in scoring with an average of 7.0 ppg and leads the Hawks with a 6.0 rebound-per-contest average. She is 14-of-44 overall from the field and has made one of four three point attempts, while going 9-of-17 at the free throw line. Roth has also passed for three assists, blocked three shots and collected five steals.

Roth and the Hawks return to the hardwood on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. when they welcome their second-straight Big East opponent Providence to the Chase Family Arena at the Reich Family Pavilion.
