QUEENS, N.Y. - After capping off his freshman season at the University of Hartford by being named the last America East Rookie of the Week for the year, pitcher
Anthony Mannuccia was named to the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League Eastern All-Star Team. Mannuccia made six starts for the Sag Harbor Whalers over the first half, going 1-2 with a 2.61 ERA over 41.1 innings.
Mannuccia has helped anchor the Sag Harbor staff during the first half, striking out 23 batters while walking only nine. He has one complete game with the Whalers. He was one of two Whalers pitchers named to the All-Star team, along with Tom Cardona from New York Tech. Outfielder Kevin Grove also represented the Whalers at the game.
In his first season with the Hawks, Mannuccia had a complete game shutout of Albany for his first collegiate victory. The four-hit, 4-0 shutout victory capped a strong conclusion to the season for the freshman. In his final three outings, spanning 13.1 innings, Mannuccia pitched to a 1-0 record and a 0.68 ERA.
