BALTIMORE, Md. – The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) announced its annual list of Division I All-Americans on Thursday morning prior to the Final Four in Baltimore. University of Hartford junior Tim Fallon was named Honorable Mention All-American after his stellar performance over the course of the 2010 season.
Fallon had a standout junior campaign and proved himself as one of the top face-off specialists in the nation. The Lowell, Mass. native dominated the face-off X, winning 207 of his 333 duels. Fallon started and played in all 14 games this season and has ranked on top of the NCAA statistics in ground balls (9.40) and face-off percentage (62.2-percent) for eight consecutive weeks.
Fallon is just the second Hawk to earn a nod to the Division I USILA All-American list. Chris LaMonica, a goalie, received the same accolade in 1997 after posting a record breaking season for Hartford. LaMonica recorded a program-best 11 wins between the pipes, while turning away 254 shots, also a single-season record.
“After putting together a spectacular junior season, we as a coaching staff feel that Tim is very deserving to be recognized as an All-American,” exclaimed head coach Peter Lawrence. “This honor is not only a great accomplishment for Tim, but is also a great milestone the University of Hartford men's lacrosse program. Tim becomes just the second All-American in Hartford history to earn Honorable Mention All-American, joining Chris LaMonica (1997), and this is a great feat.”
Fallon, a two-time America East All-Conference selection, posted career-best numbers in 2010 with seven points including three goals and four assists. The Lowell, Mass. native was named to the America East All-Conference First Team this season and in 2009, he garnered second team honors.
Fallon engraved his name in the Hartford career record book this season, breaking the all-time single season ground ball record with 131. In addition, his face-off percentage of 62.2 is the second-best recorded by a Hawk in a single season. Fallon also cracked the program's all-time career record books, sliding into the seventh spot with 238 ground balls.
Hartford finished 4-10 on the season and concluded America East conference play with a mark of 1-4. The Hawks posted the most wins since the 2003 campaign when they finished 9-8 overall. In addition, Hartford lost six games by two goals or less, including four by a single goal. The team, which graduates only a pair of seniors, will return all but one starter next season.
