West Hartford, CT – After moving up one position in the Associated Press Poll released on Monday, the Hartford women's basketball team picked up two spots in this week's ESPN/USA Today coaches poll sliding into 21st. The improved ranking comes after the Hawks closed out the regular season with a 16-0 record in conference play, completing the sixth undefeated conference season in the 26 year history of America East women's basketball.
The Hawks have been ranked in the ESPN/USA Today coaches poll since February 8 just prior to a win over Maine. The Hawks slide up one spot in each of the last two weeks, moving into 23rd in the 16th week of the poll.
Hartford will next play as the #1 seed in the upcoming America East Men's and Women's Basketball Championship presented by Newman's Own. The Hawks will play their first game in the tournament on Friday at 6:00 p.m. against the winner of the first round game between #8 Maine and #9 New Hampshire.
