Albany, N.Y. – The University of Hartford volleyball team (8-20 overall, 3-8 America East) dropped its second-straight match in five sets to the University at Albany Great Danes on Friday in Albany. N.Y. The Hawks were led by sophomore outside hitter Kami Nethersole who finished with 15 kills, while junior Michelle Cordell added 11 kills.
Hartford dropped the first two sets of the match by a combined score of 50-23 before storming back for 25-23 victories in set three and four to force the deciding set, which the Great Danes took by a 15-9 final. The Hawks, who saw negative shooting percentages in the first and second set, hit .318 in the third set with 17 kills and three errors in 44 total attacks. For the match, Hartford hit .134 with 48 total kills and 28 errors in 149 total swings. 
The Hawks best hitting of the night came out of Cordell who finished with a .259 hitting percentage. Along with her 11 kills she finished with four errors in 27 total attacks. She also added three blocks for the Hawks, who finished with eight total blocks as a team. 
Nethersole finished the match hitting .152 with eight errors to go with her 15 kills, in 46 total attacks. Rookie Dionna Kirton added nine kills and a .167 hitting percentage (four errors, 30 total attacks). Running the Hawks offense was senior Lindsay Ford who finished with 37 total assists, while adding two blocks and nine digs. 
Defensively, three Hartford players finished with double figure digs, led by Kirton who finished with 17 total, two shy of her career-high. Joining her in double figures was Danielle Etta, with 15, and Nethersole with 10. The double double for Nethersole is the ninth of the season for the second-year Hawk. 
The Hawks will be back in action on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. when they travel to Vestal, N.Y. for the regular season finale against the Binghamton Bearcats.
