West Hartford, CT – A trio of University of Hartford lacrosse standouts were named to the America East Coaches' Preseason All-Conference team as released by Inside Lacrosse on Monday afternoon. Junior Conor Flynn (Corning, NY/Corning East) was joined by sophomores Scott Bement (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua) and Carter Bender (Caledon, Ontario/Brewster Academy) on the coaches' preseason all-conference team. The publication picked Hartford to finish fourth overall in the 2010 America East Conference race behind UMBC, Stony Brook and Albany.

Flynn earned all-conference honors for the first time in his career, landing a spot on the America East All-Conference Second Team. The defender started all 13 games and led the Hawks with 74 ground balls.

Bement, who was named the America East Rookie of the Year and earned a spot on the conference's all-rookie team and second team, recorded a save percentage (.577) that led the conference and ranked 13th nationally. He also led the America East in saves per game (12.7) and ranked second among starting goalies in goals-against-average (9.76). Additionally, Bement was named in the Inside Lacrosse Final 2009 Rankings at the conclusion of the 2009 season where he checked in at #21 on the list.

Bender was one of four Hartford freshmen selected to the America East All-Rookie Team last season. He netted 18 goals and dished out 11 assists for 29 points and finished as the Hawks' third leading scorer in his first season.

Hartford finished 2-11 overall on the season and picked up its first conference win since 2007. The Hawks lost eight games by two goals or less, including four by a single goal. The team, which graduated only seven seniors in the spring, will return all but two starters in 2010.
