Baltimore, MD - The University of Hartford men's and women's tennis teams opened the conference season with losses on the road at UMBC. The men's team picked up the only Hawks point of the day, dropping a 6-1 decision. Artur Muller led the men's team with a singles victory in the top spot.

Muller defeated Irfan Shamasdin in the first singles position by scores of 6-3, 6-3. The women's team dropped the match by a 7-0 decision. Both teams are 0-1 in conference play. The men's will return to action on March 9 at in-state rival Quinnipiac, while the women's team will not play again until March 23 at Sacred Heart.
