West Hartford, CT - Freshman guard Ilicia Mathis earned the first America East Rookie of the Week honor for a Hawk in more than 20 months. Mathis led the Hawks against #1 Connecticut, the only player to score in double figures against the top team in the nation.

The last rookie of the week honor for a Hartford player was Diana Delva on February 18, 2007.

Mathis set a career-high with 10 points in the final game in 2008. She struggled from the field, connecting on just 2-of-9, but excelled at the free throw line shooting 6-of-8 at the charity stripe. She also grabbed four rebounds in 29 minutes of action in just her second career start. Her six free throws was also a career high.

The women's basketball team returns to action on Wednesday when they host the Binghamton Bearcats at Chase Arena at 7:00 p.m. in the conference opener for both teams.
