WSoccer's Busque, Aldred Earn Regional Honors

WEST HARTFORD, CT - University of Hartford women's soccer seniors Lauren Aldred and Kacey Busque were named to the NSCAA/adidas All-Northeast Region Second Team. Aldred was also selected to the NEWISA All-New England Second Team. Both awards were announced on Tuesday.

Each player received all-region recognition for the first time in their respective careers. It also marked the third straight year that a Hartford player has earned each honor.

Aldred, a two-year letterwinner, anchored Hartford's defensive line and was the team's top threat on offense. She tied for third in the America East in scoring with eight goals and one assists for 17 points, earning all-conference first team honors in the process. She started all 19 games and led a defense that ranked second in the league in goals-against average (0.68) and recorded eight shutouts.

Busque wrapped up a solid career by posting two goals and a career-high eight assists in 2008 while starting 19 games. She was named to the America East All-Conference First Team and led the conference in assists during the regular season. She never missed a game in her four-year career and scored 13 goals with 10 assists for 36 points in 76 games.

Hartford finished with an overall record of 8-6-5 and advanced to the America East Championship for the third straight year. The Hawks were eliminated by Maine in the quarterfinals in penalty kicks.
