WGolf Falls Just Short at AE Championship

SIMSBURY, CT ? The University of Hartford women's golf team came up one shot short of the team title at the 2008 America East Championship on Sunday at Simsbury Farms Golf Course.

The University at Albany started the day with a three-shot lead and held on by a thread to win its first conference title since 2004. The Great Danes shot 657 as a team to hold of Hartford (658) and Boston University (687).

Hartford senior Juliana Carrillo carded an 80, the lowest round of the day, to finish in a three-way tie for medalist honors with Albany's Amanda McPhee and Corrin Conroy. All three players finished with 36-hole totals of 162.

Both Carrillo and teammate Sadie Heald (4th, 164) earned all-conference recognition by virtue of their top-five finishes. Junior Megan Claxton (7th, 167) and sophomores Paige Gauthier (T-8th, 168) and Kara Sikorski (T-8th, 168) rounded out the scoring for the Hawks.

The America East Championship was Hartford's final tournament of the 2007-08 season.
