Hanover, NH - The University of Hartford men's and women's track and field teams continued their indoor season at the Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday. Both teams saw a pair of school records go down, while the men saw a pair of first place finishes from Anthony Oluwanifise. The event was not team scored.
A pair of Hawks women set school records, with Stefanie Lombardi breaking the 5,000-meter run and Ariana Bass breaking the 500-meter dash respectively. Lombardi finished the distance event in a time of 18:45.86, while Bass surpassed her own record with a time of 1:19.50 in the middle distance event.
Raquel Payne picked up points for the Hawks in the triple jump, finishing sixth with a season best of 32; 9.75”. Also running season bests was Marisa Poleto (400-meter dash - 1:01.86), Leanna Godfrey (1,000-meter run ? 3:12.42) and Kaycee Martinez in the 60-meter hurdles (9.54).
On the men's side, the Hawks saw a pair of school records and top finishes by Anthony Oluwanifise. His first record came in the long jump where he finished with a distance of 22' 5.75”, finishing second overall, but first of all collegiate athletes. He then jumped 46' 0.75” to win the triple jump.
Gregory Giddings and Stephan Jospitre finished sixth and eighth completing a trio of top-eight finishers in the long jump. Jospitre and Mike Havrilla allowed for another trio of top-eight finishes in the triple jump with fourth and sixth place finishes respectively.
The track and field teams will next compete at the Wesleyan Classic on February 9 in Middletown, CT.
