WEST HARTFORD, CT ? The University of Hartford women's soccer team picked up a 1-0 victory at the University at Albany on Thursday afternoon.
Senior Sara Flowers netted the game-winning goal in the 53rd minute to give the Hawks the victory. Hartford improved to 6-6-4 overall and 4-1-2 in the America East. Albany dropped to 4-9-3 overall and 1-6-0 in the conference.
Junior Ashley Carreira set up the goal by lobbing a ball into the box that Flowers headed home for the tally. It was her second goal of the season, both of which have come in 1-0 finals against conference opponents.
Senior Elizabeth Cook recorded her seventh shutout of the season by making seven saves. She has allowed only two goals over her last nine starts.
Hartford will wrap up the regular season against the University of Vermont on Sunday, October 28 at Al-Marzook Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m., though a special senior day ceremony will be held prior to the start of the game.
