VESTAL, NY - The University of Hartford women's soccer team picked up a 2-0 victory at Binghamton University on Sunday afternoon.
Freshman Michelle Orelli and junior Kacey Busque each scored goals as the Hawks improved to 3-5-3 overall and 1-0-1 in the America East. Binghamton dropped to 2-8-1 overall and 1-2-0 in the conference.
Senior goalkeeper Elizabeth Cook made three saves to record her fourth straight shutout. She hasn't allowed a goal in her last 398 minutes of action.
Neither team found the back of the net in the first half, but the Hawks finally broke through in the 58th minute off a corner kick. Busque served the ball into the box from the corner and found the head of Orelli, who deposited the ball between the pipes for her second career score. Busque then followed suit in the 66th minute, scoring her third goal of the year from the top of the box off a feed from senior Meagan Riemer.
Hartford will next play at UMBC on Thursday, October 11 at 3:30 p.m.
