Hamden, CT - The University of Hartford men's and women's cross country team continued its season, competing at the Quinnipiac Bobcat Invitational on Friday evening. The women's team finished in a tie for fourth place overall (out of five teams), while the men finished fifth out of five teams. Quinnipiac took home first place honors in both races.
The women's team was led by Stefanie Lombardi who finished in ninth place overall, less than a minute behind the leader. Quinnipiac finished with the top four runners. Lombardi posted a time of 19:20.5. Liz Foster finished second for the Hawks with a time of 10:19.6 in 22nd place.
Also running for Hartford was Mary Bumiller, who finished 29th (20:43.6), Leanna Godfrey, who finished 30th (20:51.6), Ariana Bass, who finished 34th (21:12.9), Kaycee Martinez, who finished 40th (21:49.7), Jennifer Krupski, who finished 41st (21:56.5) and Biliana Mihaylova, who finished 48th with a time of 22:39.8.
The men's team was led by Jonas Hampton who finished in 18th overall. Hampton posted a time of 28:28.2, only 2:02 behind the leader, John Ciccarelli, a Quinnipiac alum. Michael Tiroletto finished second for Hartford with a time of 29:51.1 (29th place).
The remaining men's runners included Michael Dionne in 34th place (30:32.3), Matthew Le in 36th place (30:54.1), Jordan Pike in 38th place (31:17.7) and Wes Melnik in 40th place (31:24.5).
The cross country teams will next run at the New Endland Championships on October 6 in Boston, Massachusetts.
